PUBLIC NOTICE OF SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

Catawba County Board of Education

NEWTON - February 5, 2026 - Pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes § 143-318.12 and
Board of Education Policy 2.3000 Board Meetings, notice is hereby given that the Catawba County
Board of Education will hold a special called meeting as follows:

Date:        Monday, February 9, 2026
Time:        6:00 p.m.
Location: Catawba County Schools Center for Administrative Services (Boardroom)
                 2285 North Anderson Avenue
                 Newton, North Carolina 28658

This special called meeting is being held to discuss and vote on revisions to the current 2025-2026
Catawba County Schools traditional school calendar, Catawba Rosenwald Education Center
calendar, and COMPASS Academy calendar, based on the superintendent’s recommendations to
change February 13, 2026, March 12, 2026, and March 13, 2026, to regular school days.

The purpose of this special-called meeting is to conduct official Board business as permitted by
law. The meeting is open to the public, except for any portions that may be conducted in closed
session as authorized under N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11.

This notice is being provided to the public and the news media in accordance with North Carolina
law and applicable Board policy.
